I have a '76 Corvette Stingray with the 350.
The oil dipstick has broken off at the end about 5 or six inches. I cannot even read the oil level.
Can I replace the dip stick tube to get the broken piece out using jackstand and a jack?
Or will I need to take it into a shop with a lift do this?

Thanks for any assistance

you should be able to remove the stick tube and retreive the broken piece IF it hasn't dropped all the way down into the oil pan. If it has you have the choice of removing the pan OR leaving it in there. You can try using a magnet and working it around to make contact and then working it to the oil drain and out. Either way it will take some time and patience. Good luck

If there is five inches left use a pliers and pull it out and get a new tube. it slides into the hole about 1 inch. be sure to clean area first.

I have gotten a magnetic oil pan plug from Ecklers. It was only 5 bucks. Hopefully this will grab it sooner or later.
