Anyone know how to cut round holes in the air box to allow more air without having a water problem? I have a stock C5 2001 box. Will this help? Seems the factory box is restricted according to other post I see. Will this cause any problem with the computer reading wrong?

Any help here would be great!!:woowoo:

To be quite honest with you it really is not going to do a whole lot. GM made the design pretty good to get the most outta that airbox. Dont take what I said for gospel though!

I really doubt your airbox is restrictive. G.M. may have had bad management, but their engine design engineering departments have been excellent.

stock 2002 Z06 air cleaner cover Is less restricted but according to GM with a stock engine it won’t make any difference (so I've read)

You can buy a hole saw to cut holes in your air box.It will attach to a cordless or corded drill. You can buy them in many different sizes and they make nice clean round holes.I would reccomend also getting a K&N air filter too.The added cooler air will not cause any problems with the car computer:yoda:

You can either purchase a 2002 Z06 air cleaner cover for $95. or do what i did, open up the front of the cover to about 4inches long by 3 inches wide so your C5 can breath. We have a 2002 C5 and just doing that made a huge H.P. gain. Seal the front of the hood with weatherstrip, needs to be done anyway to keep water and dirt out.

I did the same to mine. also added a kn filter and the induction grills where the foglights are. I can hear and feel a difference. It was a easy and cheap mod.

did you ever notice on the stock air filter how the dirty spot was about 2"s around right in the middle of the filter. Thats cause of that little 1" hole in the filter cover. So whats that tell you. Bigger hole = more air. Simple. It works I did it!:patriot:

vararam is $400. I think its stupid looking. this way it does the same thing but looks stock. only cost $50 for kn filter and $60 for grilles. So it cheaper, looks stock and does the same thing. thanks
