: Next Mod: Fast 90, Headers or Gears?

Hi, I currently have a head and cam package with Borla exhaust on my 2002 C5. From the last dyno we are pushing just under 400RWHP.

My question for you all is that I've been trying to decide what my next mod will be, I have been looking at headers, Fast 90 (ported out), and gears?

Which of these will yield the greater gains? Sooner or later I will have them all, but would like to continue with what ever will give the better returns first.

Thanks for your help.

Chris

a good set of lt's like kooks or LG will add on another 15-20 with your current combo. and a fast 90/90 will roughly do another 10+ depending on the tune. did you run it on a mustang dyno or dynojet? what are the specs on you heads and cam?

I would guess that this is a nice mild setup as far as the specs on the cam goes. What heads did you go with? And yes, if you do headers and exaust your numbers will go up very nicely as this will compliment your current mods!

Yeah, do yourself a favor and get the headers first.
I would say you will see even more than 15-20rwhp since you already have the heads/cam setup.
Dont forget to retune the car as well for the total package.

I went the Patriot heads and the cam was, geeeze don't have those numbers?? I might just go with the headers that you all recommended. You know how budgets and the need for more HP can be!

I would also really consider doing the gears also, this will give you a really good performance bump and for the bang for the buck you really can't beat it! Either way, let us know what you decide to do!

Headers all the way

With a good tuner you should see at least 30rwhp gains.

Thanks

Go with a set of LG headers, these are the nicest LT headers on the market and they always give a whole lot of HP!!

Looks like Kooks or LG are the headers to select from?

Looks like Kooks or LG are the headers to select from?I hear the Kooks are an easier install, but the LGs cant be beat in torque production.
If you're doing the install yourself, something to consider.

Is there really that big of difference to install one header from another?? Whats so tricky about the LG's?

Is that at the rear wheel HP or fly wheel?

I don't know if there is an easier set to install but I would agree that the LG set are probably the best! I have kooks right now and if I get a good deal on a set of LG's I would like to try them.

I'm on the other side, I currently have LG's and think the performace is great. Only problem is that I have friends with Kooks headers and they have not discolored no where nears as much as mine. Seriously there is like almost a rusty look to mine? Theirs look great?? One friend has nearly the same mods as my Vette and the other guy has just headers and exhaust either way, I'm not happy with the quality of these regardless whether they give a couple more HP than the Kooks. I would have to say, I get a good deal on Kooks I'm moving over. The guy with nearly same mods as me thinks I got a bad set of headers, manufacture defect because he has a set of LG's on one of his other cars and no major discolor? So who knows on this one.

Have you tried getting a new set sent to you from LG? If they are indeed manufacture mess up's you would expect LG would take car of you?

I have had Kooks for about 6 months and love them. I got a good deal on these thats why I picked up Kooks, but I have heard good things about LG also, either way your going to be happy.
