I just bought a 77 with no motor or trans. I put a battery in the batt box to test lights and windows. All the lights work and I can see the voltage is correct on the gauge. When I try to put down the power windows the voltage drops and I can hear the window motor in the door click once very quietly but no movement occurs. This is the case on both the driver and passenger windows. If I press and hold the window switch I can see the voltage gauge slowly drop and when I let go it goes back to 12V. Any ideas? Thanks, Neal

Is it a fully charge brand new battery you are using ?

It is possible that the motors are bad, or the regulators, I would do one dorr at a time and see (these are expesive items, it it fixes the problem on one door go to the next. SOunds like just is getting to the motors so the porblem is from the motor on. (also make sure he rollers and tracks are not jammed and that they can move freely when the motor engages.

The brushes in the window motors are more then likely stuck from not being used. Hold the window switch in the down position and close the door at the same time (kind of hard), This should fix your problem.
