As with most vehicles, stock Corvette Brake Pads (http://www.zip-corvette.com/Zip/dept.asp?dept_id=3908) can only handle a certain amount of overall performance. Once you start upgrading your Corvette or if you have the already powerful Z06, chances are your brake system has plenty of room for improvement. One of the quickest ways to step up your Corvette’s braking abilities is to add performance brake pads from Carbotech. Unlike conventional brake systems that use carbon and iron, Carbotech uses ceramic and metallic compounds, which are much more “rotor friendly”.
Zip Corvette carries Carbotech Brake Pads (http://www.zip-corvette.com/Zip/dept.asp?dept_id=3833) for every C4, C5, & C6 Corvette including the Z06. With many different brake pad compounds available for both street and track use, be sure you are getting the right brake pads for your Corvette. Here are the popular Carbotech Corvette Brake Pad (http://www.zip-corvette.com/Zip/dept.asp?dept_id=3908) compounds available from Zip Corvette Parts (http://www.zip-corvette.com):

The XP8 is a high torque brake compound with a wide operating temperature range (200F-1350F). Carbotech XP8 is the first of their racing compounds. The compound has outstanding initial bite at race temperatures, a high coefficient of friction, and excellent modulation and release characteristics. It has extremely high fade resistance and is rotor friendly with 100% non-corrosive dust. XP8 is perfect for novice, intermediate and advanced track day (HPDE) use with any tire, and can still be driven safely to and from the track. Many people use the XP8 on the street or at autocross and track day (HPDE) events. Carbotech does NOT recommended XP8 as a daily driven street pad due to elevated levels of dust and noise. This brake pad compound is available for C5 and C6 Corvettes.

When Carbotech unleashed the Panther XP10, it was an instant success. In no time they gathered multiple regional, divisional, and even national SCCA road racing championships. This compound has a very high initial bite, with a coefficient of friction and rotor friendliness unmatched in the industry. It is fade resistance to above 1600F. Due to the high level of friction and bite, this material is recommended for cars in excess of 2400 pounds using R-compound race tires or slicks. Compound XP10 still maintains the excellent modulation, rotor friendliness, and non-corrosive dust that has made all Carbotech Brake Pads (http://www.zip-corvette.com/Zip/dept.asp?dept_id=3833) so successful. This Corvette Brake Pad (http://www.zip-corvette.com/Zip/dept.asp?dept_id=3908) is available for the C4, C5, & C6 Corvette including the Z06.

The XP12 compound has an extremely high initial bite, and is more torque and fade resistant than compound XP10. XP12 is a world leading friction compound that is unmatched as a ceramic racing compound, with a temperature range of 250F to 2000F. The XP12 is the most rotor aggressive compound Carbotech offers, but compared to the competition the XP12 is still very rotor friendly and contains 100% non-corrosive dust. XP12 is recommended only for expert/very advanced drivers and is found to be most effective on race cars weighing 2,400lbs or more using R-Compound tires; or street cars weighing 3,200lbs or more for track use only. As with most Carbotech Brake Pads, the XP12 is not recommended for use as a daily driven street pad due to possible elevated levels of dust and noise. This Corvette Brake Pad (http://www.zip-corvette.com/Zip/dept.asp?dept_id=3908) compound is also available for all C4, C5, & C6 Corvettes.

The AX6 takes the place of the old Panther Plus compound that was so successful. It was specifically engineered for Autocross applications. AX6 is a high torque brake compound delivering reliable and consistent performance over a very wide operating temperature range (150F to 1250F). The advanced compound matrix provides an excellent initial bite, high coefficient of friction, and very progressive brake modulation and release characteristics. AX6 offers high fade resistance, rotor friendliness at all temperatures, excellent cold stopping power, and non-corrosive dust. As a result, AX6 is an excellent choice for autocross & novice track day drivers and beginner HPDE drivers on street driven cars using street tires. Many drivers use the AX6 for street driving as well, even though Carbotech does not recommend street driving with the AX6 due to possible elevated levels of dust and noise. If you are an intermediate or advanced track driver or are running “R” compound tires (racing tires) you should not use the AX6. Carbotech’s AX6 Corvette Brake Pads (http://www.zip-corvette.com/Zip/dept.asp?dept_id=3908) are available for all C5 & C6 Corvettes.

The Carbotech Bobcat Corvette Brake Pad (http://www.zip-corvette.com/Zip/dept.asp?dept_id=3908) is a very successful, high performance street compound. It is known for its excellent release and modulation, along with unmatched rotor friendliness. Like the AX & XP compounds, the Bobcat is a Ceramic based friction material, which offers minimal rotor damage and non-corrosive dust. The Bobcat compound offers outstanding performance, even when cold, low dusting and low noise with an excellent initial bite. This compound’s near perfect linear torque production provides incredible braking force without ABS intervention. The operating range starts out at ambient and goes up to 900F. It is suitable for all street cars. The Bobcat compound has been found to last two to three times longer than OE Corvette Brake Pads (http://www.zip-corvette.com/Zip/dept.asp?dept_id=3908) you can purchase at a dealership and has been found to extend the life of your Corvette’s Rotors (http://www.zip-corvette.com/Zip/dept.asp?dept_id=3903). That’s one of the beauties of Carbotech Ceramic brake compounds. The Bobcat compound is not recommended for any track use. Carbotech’s Bobcat Corvette Brake Pads (http://www.zip-corvette.com/Zip/dept.asp?dept_id=3908) are available for all C5 & C6 Corvettes.
