Right now I have a basic radar detector that is about 3 years old and it has always done it's job for me. Now recently my best buddy has just gotten the latest and greatest in laser tech. and he said that I need to change and keep with the times!

What brand/model do you have? Chances are the later upper-end models(V1, 9500) will perform much better, but the middle of the line will perform the same. Radar jammers, however, are illegal. I believe what you are referring to is a LASER jammer, which is an entirely different unit than a radar detector, and should be used in conjunction with a radar detector. The basic idea is to use the detector to detect the presence of laser and slow down to a safe speed while the jammer keeps your speed off the gun. Once you're at the legal limit you switch off the jammer so the LEO gets a reading on his gun and away you go. :thumbsup3:
