I have one on my Vette right now and a couple of my buddies only use Mobil products and they bust on me a little bit saying that I am a cheapo and that Fram is junk. Tell me that they are wrong.

Ask your buddies this: In what way(s) is a Mobil filter better than a Fram? I have used Fram oil and air filters for over 40 years and I have never had any problem with either. I have heard the Mobil oil filter has a higher burst rating, but as I don't run abnormally high pressure in the first place, that claim means nothing to me. I have also heard Fram's pleated paper cartridge inside tends to flake off some when used for a long time, but that's not important to me either as I change my filter at every (5000 mile) oil change.

I spend the extra $2 and get the Wix, just what I have always used, along with Casrtol Oil

Get yourself a filter cutter, cut open a Fram, and cut open a Wix and compare them. THEN tell me which you'd rather have filtering your oil. Personally, I use K&N.

For over 20 years I've used nothing BUT Fram, now I've slowly moved over to Mobil on a few of my cars, especially the Z06. I also change my oil and filter every 5000 miles, (no matter what the DIC says) and that has applied to all my vehicles, and I must admit that I've never had a problem with Fram.
I guess it's just that Mobil gives off the "impression of quality" because we associate their filter with their oil, and they have a decent brand of gas too.

K&N is used on all my rides.

Worth the extra couple of bucks.

Which is better? I was always told Wix was a good filter?:noidea:

I found that this study done on oil filters a few years ago was pretty interesting. There is definitely a big difference among manufacturers.

Fram
These filters are manufactured by Allied Signal, Inc. See this email from an Allied Signal production engineer.
Fram Extra Guard PH8A
This filter cartridge has a small outside diameter with a rather low filter element surface area (193 sqin), and features cardboard end caps that are glued in place. The rubber anti-drainback valve seals the rough metal backplate to the cardboard end cap and easily leaks, causing dirty oil to drain back into the pan. If you have a noisy valve train at startup, this filter is likely the cause. The bypass valves are plastic and are sometimes not molded correctly, which allows them to leak. The backplate has smaller and fewer oil inlet holes, which may restrict flow.

The telltale signs for a Fram Extra Guard are: It has 8 small holes for the oil inlet and a thin, cheap looking backplate, and is currently stamped with a "2Y". There are 5 very small crimps holding the gasket in place. If you look into the center hole all the way to the top of the filter, you will see a kind of "button" in the end cap of the cartridge (which looks like it's made of metal from there). This is the plastic bypass valve.

So what I'm gathering from this is that I am good with my Wix Filters, or am I wrong on that?

Wix is up there with some of the best. Most of us all change our oil and filters at good intervals, so all of these filters will work to a point. It is interesting to read and see the differences in construction and the variability in these different filters. I just follow the manual and install the Mobil 1 whenever the car's computer tells me it's time.

You were told correctly. Wix is the better of the two.
