Have never had your Vette out in the rain? Ever?

Me, mine's never seen the rain. Why... I don't know, but I may have to change my ways if I want to go to Carlisle, or to the Corvette Museum with my baby.

So, tell me your thoughts, and drive safe out there!

You would be one of those guys that would cringe to see my vette @ home. It typically has rubber covering the rear quarters and.... sits in my driveway. NO GARAGE! :eek2:

My C3s were parked outdoors all the time when I lived in Illinois and saw rain, sleet, ice and snow. That was when I discovered that fiberglass does not rust:rofl:

My two stay dry as a baby's behind. Only water they see is when I hand wash them in the driveway. :beerbang:

Mines a DD only stays home when it snows or there is an ice storm.

Since mine is a daily driver I have driven my car in the rain countless times.

I've only had my car for 3 weeks now but I've had it in the rain and will continue to as the car is now my DD. I have a Toyota Tundra for when I need to tow/haul and for my winter beater up here in MA, but any other time, I'll be in the C5 like the Post Office, in the rain, sleet, dead of night . . .

Sting that is one of the funniest things I have heard in a long time.

That reminds me of a funny story in a 58 Vette, but I won't go into the details.

I try not to get out in the rain if I know of it ahead of time, which I usually do know ahead of time, I have an iPhone with me basically all the time, and can check the weather in a few moments from about anywhere.

I have been in the rain a few times, a couple times during car shows or on the way home from them, and a couple times when farther away and had no choice, I do not mind it, just more to clean, and the driving in the wetness is what really sucks for me.... Plus my windshield washer resiviour does not hold washer fluid anymore, it is converted over to a methanol holding tank.... so I do not have washer fluid to clean the windshield if I needed to, of course the wipers still work though....

Plus if you've never been to Tennessee, there are some huge *** ditches next to lots of the road sides here, with nothing there to block cars from falling off into them, wet roads and big ditches do not go well together, and yes they are scary....

i like to keep the car clean as possible so I avoid rain if possible, but I've driven in it lots of times. Surprisingly, it still looks pretty good after it dries, even after it's been out in the rain. Cleaning up the fender wells is a pain afterwards.

I always see lots of Porsche drivers driving their cars out in the rain and wonder why Vettes are so paranoid about it?

Daily driver here. I don't purposefully take it out in the rain, but if I have to i will.

I designed a lighting system specifically for rain/fog/bad weather: I call it LVL (low visibility lighting) It consists of deticated 3000K HID Dipped beam E55 projectors and a row of superflux Red LEDs in the trim of the rear tag plate to Significantly increase how well you can see my otherwise stealthy car.

radiofler97 you are the bomb! I avoid rain if possible, but have been on a few road trips and gotten stuck in it. Just makes for a longer washing job. But then again, I love washing it so who cares.

Been caught in the rain. I don't look at the weather and say "Hey, it's going to rain today....maybe I should take the vette to work". She stays inside if there is rain in the forecast.

If it is raining when I open the garage usually I won't drive it. However, the good news is that the Corvette was designed to be able to drive in the rain if need be....lol

Have been caught in the rain several times. Not a big deal. A simple wash gets it all purtty again.

Hi Dave,

I generally don't take mine out if there's any rain in the forecast but I've been out of state on vacation or away for the weekend a few times and gotten stuck in the rain. In fact, my avatar was taken between down pours at the NCM in Sept 2006.

I'll catch up with you at one of the Bristol cruises one of these weekends.

Later,
Rich

It seemed like everytime i went for a ride last summer I got caught in the rain. Pissed me off at first but hard to avoid every little shower. I never went out on the real nasty days.

Weather changes so fast sometimes that there is no way that you won't get caught in it at some point.

Hey Sting, If I remember right when Noah launched his ark the panhandle only got about 3/10 inch of rain. I am in Alva and we are pretty dry also.
