I posted awhile back about parking my mustang and getting a vette. Well now I found one for 14,000 that has a salvage title. It was a theft recovery. I have 11k saved and can probably get a private loan through my family. How much up keep would this have if I used it as a daily driver? What the actual MPG these get?

The car has the following description:
this car is 166 in production in 97 to leave the plant as one of first this rare and maybe why it was stolen...Theft Recovery is why this corvette has a rebuilt title came from Ins Co.this car has a nada book of 23450 on it just got to sell to pay bills and i hate it.

All Options that come on vette this one has everything and i will miss it as it turns heads

This one is in crazy nice shape with 40k miles. He ows on the loan he wants the payoff wich is 13500.00 How can I safely transfer the money to him and get a bill of sale done so he has to pay the car off and send me the title? How can I cover myself and not rely on trust.

The price is some what attractive, but salvaged title, don't know about that, reselling the car will be a nightmare as others have put it. Just a little more $$ you can get a clean title. Might be worth the investment.

Personally I would stand clear of a salvaged title. :leaving:

Long time ago I picked up a car with savaged title to save some bucks, I nearly had to give the car away when it came time to getting another car. Dealers wouldn't even take it on trade!

The up keep is a crap shoot, you never really know but the 97s were very well wrung out and they were no lemons as far as a first production for a major model change. As with most performance cars some regular long term maintenance items are very exspensive, tires for instance!

I get roughly 19 MPG in town and 31 MPG highway driving like my grandmother would, putting my foot in it, all bets are off!

Take it for a test drive and go over the car real well. Concentrate on any vibrations and look for things like the gas cap not lined up in the hole, gaps even ect... and that ALL electronics work. Tell him re-sale/trade in value is lost on this car... offer him 9,5K cash and drive it till the frame rots!
