I have a 2004 procharged C5 and have been reading about some heat issues that users of Centrifugal Superchargers and Front Mount Intercoolers are having. The issue is that the front mount intercoolers blocks air flow to the radiator which can cause higher temps?
Has anyone removed the stock Intercooler and using two smaller intercoolers mounted so that they are not taking up valuable air to the radiator or remove the intercooler completely and just tried spraying an insane amount of meth? :smack:
I'm sure you would be going threw meth like no tomorrow, but it might work right? Or in the other idea with two smaller intercoolers mounted in the wheel wells some where or custom fabrication in the nose somewhere might be a good idea? What are your thoughts on this one?

I bet if you found a good location for the two smaller intercoolers that would work, the other idea not really sure about. The challenge will be, is to find a location where you get suffient amount of air movement to keep things cool?

I road raced my C5 weekly this year with an Procharger D1SC set up. Depending on your level of track experience and how hard you push your car, you can expect serious heat issues with a blower.
That said here’s how I addressed the issues:
• I have the original dual side mounted intercoolers that came with my D1SC. That takes car of the issue in blocking the air flow to the radiator. Forget about running RR without intercoolers. Won’t work!
• I installed a Tigershark front (w/o the lower apron) to provide air to the intercoolers and the radiator. The stock front won’t cut it, especially with the normal bottom fed air opening blocked by the intercooler hoses.
• I’m running an ECS 100% meth system. Forget about running RR without one.
• I’m running a Ron Davis radiator with a separate exterior oil cooler. Without both, you will fry your engine after 6 hard laps.
Bottom line: Without the improvement above your going to have a very tough time on the track and could easily fry and damage your engine. If you are serious about road racing, I would almost tell you to bag your SC entirely and do a head came package for the car.
I’m building an all track car this year which is all NA. Good luck.

Tom, that final pic is the coolest pic that I have seen!! When do you suspect you will be hitting the tracks with your NA beast??

I'm shooting for 4/1. I will have my work cut out for me.
