Don't know how the heck this happened but I have pretty new tires and I need to know what is the best patch that I can put on. The nail was in the middle of the tread on GY's.

Well, I see that you are in SJ. I would take it to Courtesy Corvettes there. They have a great service department, know Corvettes backwards and forewards, and will patch your tire with the best patch available: http://www.courtesycorvettes.com/

I had my new tires for 6 hours before I caught a nail that deflated the tire. It was dead in the middle of the tire so I plugged it, drove 7 hours to Atlanta (it was 3AM before I noticed it so I couldn't get it fixed right away), and then ran it around the Atlnta Motor Speedway at 129Mph. I meant to have it professionally patched from the inside but haven't done it yet. Going on 6 months now.

You should be okay if you follow Slick's suggestion.

I know. I keep forgetting about it. I guess I should get it fixed. I have road hazard protection.

So you patched it from the outside?

Yep. I had one of those plug kits that you puncture and plug the tire with. The nail was all the way through the meaty part of the tread and was pretty much dead center so I knew it would work. I just want to get it fixed from the inside because I think that is the better way to do it. I don't have a technical theory as to why that is better, I just think it is. Maybe somebody here is a tire expert and can shed some light.

I don't know... I may want to leave well enough alone.

... only for so long until they start having very slow leaks. Get it fixed right at a tire shop or it will go down at the most inopportune time. Trust me on that. My plug I talked about in this thread finally started leaking. I got it fixed right the other day.
