Hello everyone, I am new to the forum and thought that you might like to see the car that I am building from scratch. I love the 1997 and up Vettes. And, I love the looks of the 1950's sports racers. Cars like the Jag, Devin, Scarab, lister and others. So, I decided to combine the two.
I built a race quality space frame with the same track and wheelbase as the C5. I bolted in the suspension cradles and complete drivetrain. I moved the engine rearward by 20 inches so that the car has true mid engine balance. I shortened the torque tube to do this.
I then sculpted the 1950's inspired body, made molds, and layed up the fiberglass body. The car is 38 inches high, 77 inches wide and weighs 1980lb complete and is street legal.
I have raced the chassis with a prototype body and won every event that I have been in, by huge margins. I can't wait for spring so that I can go for a drive. Thanks for looking! John

That is one big Go-kart, and a very powerful one at that too.

Very nice ride, and looks like lots of talent and skill not to mention thought and money have gone into your project. Very nice.

No videos yet! Here are a couple of pictures of it running at Gateway with a 23 T bucket Hot Rod body that I quickly made and put on it.
I am actually making final changes to the chassis and have built a jig so that I can make more. I thought about starting a thread that I would post pictures of the build, from the frame, to laying up the body, to completion.
I plan to get a video of it on a track and on the mountain roads of New Hampshire.

Very nice. Looks like a lot of fun.

There's a kit car on the market that has a similar design....I can't recall the name at present, but very similar to yours.

Sure looks like fun:cheers:

Thanks for the positive comments. I live in New Hampshire. Your all welcome to come up this spring and check it out.
I missed the question about weight. I have had it completely together before tearing it down for paint, ect. On racing scales it was 1980lbs, with 54% on the rear.

Yes, I work out of my home garage. I added on 5 bays a few years ago so I have space to work!
