: Twin Supercharged C5
Hitman 12-05-2007, 09:12 PM Whats the word smokinvette. I'm Brad, crazy guy up in Washington. I just picked up a 04 C5 Vette that I want to do something wild with. Is it possible to set this up with a twin supercharger? If so what system was used or recommended. I will be stripping down the motor and building this thing up. I'm making a check list of items for the build, making certain that I'm getting the right parts.
Has anyone heard of this or done a twin supercharger?
Thanks for hitting me back!
Brad
bradleyback 12-06-2007, 05:03 AM I can recommend some single superchargers, but have no idea on twin! :willy_nilly:
I'll be watching you now, I want to see how you make this!
Julip02 12-06-2007, 01:57 PM Near certain you might be able to work a couple Prochargers in what you looking for? I remember seeing something on this. You might want to start your look at Procharger. Good luck
tom snitzer 12-06-2007, 02:50 PM I think you are looking for an F body Procharger that will produce 20lbs+ of boost. You will obviously be going with a custom fuel pump, forged components and likely a big block made for big boost, like the Warhawk?
If you are looking for more than that, you will probably be looking at roots style drag type blowers. Ergo the big boys that serious drag cars use, with direct drive belts.......

I've heard of people installing twin superchargers onto a car? Or am I way off? Thanks again, I'm just looking to put down stupid power and have a car that really stands out of the crowd, so thats why the extreme ideas.

bradleyback 12-08-2007, 06:26 AM You had my curiousity and I found some shots of twin F-1 Procharger set up! It can be done, this is insane!

tom snitzer 12-08-2007, 07:02 AM The F1 kits are probably about $7000 each plus install. Big $$$$$ The issue with SC isn't getting boost. A single F1 can easily produce 20 lbs of boost. It's the cooling and fuel pump issues to go along with that.
The kind of block and internals you need to support that? Probably all new forged internals and at boost levels over 20 lbs, a high performance block, like a warhawk.

LOL thats some serious power... what sort of numbers are coming from a twin supercharged set up compared to twin turbo???

F1, is this the one that sounds like a turbine jet?
hammatime 12-12-2007, 05:42 AM I have a friend that has the F1 SC on his '98 Camaro, but I can't recall if his bottom end was forged or not?! I will have to ask him on that. In the picks, it looks like there are (2) superchargers on that car, is that right??

Yep, that's the one!
We are actually looking at an idea involving an F1 AND a roots style on the same car. If anyoine wants to talk about it, feel free to hit me up.

Ladys Man 12-13-2007, 06:18 AM I may be incorrect on this one but wouldn't it be much easier to install like a F1, crank up the boost on her. With the twin super chargers it just sounds like more work than what results you will yield from it? Plus aren't these blocks/engines only able to take so much? I may be wrong but this is what I thought? :)
Biker 12-19-2007, 07:19 AM Sounds a little unnessary if you ask me, one F1 boosted up should do the trick right? Either way kudos for the project!
Im going to call BS, there is no bracket on the second blower its just sitting in there.

All the mounting bolts are out of the headunit and its tilted forward. And what is the drivebelt running off? The serp belt runs the other and there isnt enough room between the crank pully and the PS rack to add another section for the second blower drive. So yea, fake
This however IS real

tom snitzer 01-10-2008, 04:56 AM Check out the thread showing a Procharger F3 blower project and scroll to the bottom. It shows the difference between the F3 head unit and the D1SC. The former is twice the size.
Seriously, if the F3 doesn't do it for you, you should get a cog drive roots blower, run straight alcohol or perhaps nitro-methane! The F3 will provide more boos than you could ever use. You will need a custom larger sized block, forged internals, new trans, drive train.....to come close to using it's potential.

tom snitzer 01-10-2008, 04:57 AM Sorry the word I was searching for is "boost". I forgot to engage spell checking this am.
Z06dreams 01-11-2008, 11:07 PM people turbo Geos and stuff it shouldn't be impossible.
