Newbie here, although I've had my 1997 C5 for 4 years. Just tried to get into the glove box when I found I couldn't get the door open. I tried to re-lock and unlock the key cylinder several times, but door will not open. Has anyone had this issue? If so, how was the issue remedied or does someone have a procedure I could perform to get the door open? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Does it still feel like you are locking and unlocking it when you put the key in? The mechanism could have broken off and in the locked position, if that is the case I don't know how you would get into it when it is closed???

lendell, thanks for your response. Actually, I went back out to work on getting the glove box door open. Yes, it did feel like the key was operating the cylinder correctly. I reluctantly placed a wonder bar between the top of the door edge and the gap at the IP. I slowly kept nudging and applying more pressure. It finally popped open after several minutes and me figuring I was inevitably going to break something. Now, here is the kicker, after looking for a reason why this happened I think what occured was the metal pull tab for the zipper on the owners manual cover got in between the cylinder latch and locking bar causing the door to become stuck. Thankfully, I didn't cause any damage to anything!! No more owners manual in the car!!!! Thanks again for your help.
