I have noticed that under acceleration that my transmission feels like it slips around 3 gear or so? I'm not getting any codes. There has been nothing done to my transmission (auto). Dealer took a look at the car and said there was nothing wrong with it? Yet every so often I get that slipping feeling when I for example speeding up to get on freeway? Any advice would be appreciated.

That sounds like tranny is going? I had SUV that had transmission that slipped... it was the tranny going out.

Someone with a good scanner can easily diagnose it. You just datalog Engine RPM and Output Shaft RPM with the torque converter locked and if there is a noticeable difference between the two values the transmission is slipping (they should be synced up together ideally). Depending upon how many miles are on the car I'd recommend having the transmission shop replace the torque tube bearings and rubber couplers while they're at it since those wear out over time and it's only a couple extra hours of labor once the transmission is out.

Hi David,
Thanks so much! The car has like 58,000 miles on it. I have writen down what you recommended and will pass along to transmission shop. Would this be something dealer take care of or am I better off going to actual transmission shop?

Either type of shop would be fine. It really depends upon the experience of the person doing the job.

Ok, I think I'm going to bring to transmission shop, dealers are always more $$ and I doubt this will be covered under warranty. THX :)
