I changed the fuel pump in my 74 and now it won't start. Spark is good. I don't see any fuel in carb. when attempting start. Any suggestions? Vapor lock? I double checked to make sure I got the pump lever arm behind the push rod. I tried starting fluid spray in carb and didn't even get a sputter. Please help Thanks

Do you need to bleed the fuel line? Not sure, have never needed to change fuel filter? If not that try swaping out the fuel pump to narrow places for error?

Starter fluid should of made it try to turn over and get it started. Are you certain you have spark? If you do, I'd say you may have flooded it good before trying to start it.

Are you getting fuel to the pump from the tank thats where id start dude. if so see ef it squirts from the out side of the pump when you turn the motor over. if it does it should start eventualy...

I just changed my fuel pump the other day on my 73 stingray, very tight with a/c, I have a clear inline fuel filter so i could see I was getting fuel and she started right up, Make sure you have fuel to the carb(hoses connected properly, clear fuel filter), And spark to the plugs and you should be good to go. Good Luck

Did you get this taken care of? Curious as to what the problem was?

hey man, if you don't press the gas pedal a few times before starting, you have no chance... try using some isopropyl alcohol (dry gas) too.

If you're not getting anything using starting fluid my guess is you have no spark. Try the coil.

yeah I would check spark to. I was having the same problem only I didnt replace the fuel pump. it wouldnt start for anything. and so I decided to replace coil, distib cap, wires and plugs (it was about time any ways). not sure exactly what the problem was but after that it roar back to life once again.

If your getting spark and it won't start with starting fluid then try changing your plugs sounds like they maybe fouled
