Is it a fact that if you add a dry sump oil system to your Vette like the Z06 has that it will add a hefty amount of HP?

Yes it does "create" power by keeping the engine completely coated in oil. It is not a ton of power but it is pretty good for the engine when you are going around sharpe turns and you don't have to worry about the engine not getting it's oil because it's was all stuck to the side of the engine!

that's where the majority benefit comes from.

Although miniscule... the friction caused by the crank turning through a tray of hot thin oil... does cause some drag/power loss.

But a dry sump system is not always selected for the power issue... it could be solely for clearance issues as well.

Racing applications use a dry sump system primarily to keep the engine lubricated under high G cornering which is experienced on the track, and secondarily for the small HP gain as previously mentioned.............
