Any dyno's on "actual" HP gains from installing headers? I have been told by certain a couple of header companies that 45-50 at the flywheel? I was speaking to their sales guy, seemed a bit high? Could be wrong:rolleyes:

I have heard from performance shops that it is best to have a few mods on your car first to get best performance from headers. If you want more sound of a "beast" go w/o cats, however be warned that some say you get a sulfer odor? Not sure on that... just sharing what I have heard.
As far as companies that make a decent product, there is AmericanRacing, Kooks, LG Motorsports, Breathless Performance. If you don't have a air intake ad one and a tune... with the headers you should see a pleasant increase in HP and Torque. Who ever does the work see if they can dyno before and after as part of the deal? :D You may catch them on a good day!
Also consider your states emission laws

On our Black 05 (Not Z06) Kooks set us up with 1 7/8" headers and 3" X pipe -> going into B&B Bullets... there was certainly a noticable HP & Torque increase! Not to mention this set up unleashed the monster under the hood... between the increase power and the roar of the engine. With that said we don't have our Z06 yet, however I believe the gains will be noticable with the increased displacement size of the Z06 engine.

Perfect - there are a couple companies I had not heard of there and will consider. I'm not sure on emission laws  Worse case scenario I will keep the stock exhaust and when the time comes swap it out for the emission test. May be pricy - yet it will allow the car to pass :D

This summer I was considering about adding headers on my 06 Z06, if you decide to get a set on yours please post what you went with and what you thought. :D
