I was on the phone yesterday with a shop that was telling me the Honker is the best CAI, I want to replace the the one thats on the car and I have seen both of these CAI units in the magazines and it looks like there is more to gain from Vararam? But then the guy on the phone yesterday was telling my all these reasons to go with Honker rather than Vararam or other CAI set ups? Thought I would get some real life testimonials then make my decision?

Vararam all the way.
I have seen a solid 3-4 mph increase in trap speed on bone stock Vettes with the Vararam, nothing else comes close.
My buddy recently replaced his 'other' CAI with a Vararam and picked up an extra 2mph in the 1/4 on a stock 01 Z06.

Thanks
Mike

My vote is for the Honker, I like the fact it relocates your MAF to a more sensible location. Very well thought out. It's easier to install too!

I personally have the Hurricane...

I'm joining the band wagon on whats the better of the 2. I just ordered American racing headers that should be hear Monday. Once the headers come in I'm going to have the car dropped off to get this stuff installed and tuned. Then road trip to Vegas

I say get the vararam and get an aftermarket air bridge as well. The vararam uses the stock air bridge which is too restrictive.

Who sells this air bridge and what sort of power can be seen out of this?

Hey Ghostrider, let me know if you go with the Vararam as I am thinking about going with it. I need one that will give me max air flow, (obviously)!

I will start out by saying that I have no experience with the Honker... but I have a lot of experience with the Vararam! I have installed a few of them and they seem to perform very well!!! I personally have the Halltech on my car but it was purely because I was being cheap and bought it for $100 used on eBay. If I was buying one it would definitely be the Vararam! I had my Halltech, a Catback and a dyno tune and raced my buddy who I had just helped put a Vararam on his otherwise stock C6 and he ended up trapping higher than me and pulling a better 1/4! Both of us are experienced drivers and it was a close race but I attribute a lot of it to the Vararam! He has since run an 11.5 @ I believe 121mph with Cam, Headers, MT ET Streets and a tune to complement the Vararam!

Be sure to follow these instructions for the install if you buy one:

I have the honker. its a little pricey but looks very good under the hood kinda like it belongs there. I don't have any numbers from the dyno but sop it feels like i gained more hp.

With the honker you still need to cut things to make it fit?

Better late then never, but I did go with the Vararam and will say this thing was a pain to install. Not fun at all, directions need some improvement on their end. I will say I do notice a difference in power, so it was money well spent.

I'd recommend the C5 VaraRam, great unit, good horsepower gains!

We've got them available for $299.00 when you enter C5VARA coupon at checkout.
