: thinking second vette
takoda 01-25-2009, 03:50 AM i have a 1985 c4 right now that i wont part with i love it but im thinking about getting a c5 also. just wanted to get some feedback from the guys and girls that would know best what year should i focus on and why also the price that i should pay for it.:help: thanks all
darren6114 01-25-2009, 05:19 AM I would say go for it. If you want a base c5 get a 2001 or newer and if you want a z06 get a 2002 or newer. Depending on miles and year you can get some good prices out there search around for a while don't rush the purchase
Mike Mercury 01-25-2009, 07:15 AM we were a "one at a time" Corvette family for 20 years. A few years after purchasing a new 2002 my wife decided she wanted her own, and bought a 1973:

then in 2007 she sold it and bought a 2003 AE Vert.
We've never felt "guilty" owning more than one at a time; mainly because they both get driven.
My advice on a C5 is to first decide whether a removeable roof panel is a must-have or not. If it is, then the Z06 is not for you.
If you wish to purchase a C5 with automatic transmission... starting 2001 the C5's with auto trans did not have the "column lock" mechanism. Thus; not having the problems associated with it.

marz06 01-25-2009, 08:47 AM Great looking rides. I have two and had a C4 too, but got rearended and totaled. I have had 4 total. You can never have too many Vettes. I would buy more today. One of each body style.
Marz

I really miss the car, but Yvonne wanted a Corvette with a lighted makeup mirror, cruise control, overdrive transmission, memory seats...

BrooklynBoys 02-03-2009, 07:28 AM You'll be able to get a better price on the earlier models but all the C5's will be a good investment. Good time to buy right now.
