I have an '86 Vette that seems to be leaking water/radiator fluid out from under the passenger side rear tire....???? Anyone have ideas about this???

There is nothing back there to leak except gas or brake fluid. I guess if someone installed a hatch drain and it is just a drip from all the rain we had that would be possible, and nothing to worry about.

climb under there and check it out so you dont go crazy but i think the drain for the gas lid is a good call

Unless some how it is coming from the heater core, getting on the floor and making it back to the rear, With mass backing it may not show any signs on the carpet. I would pull the carpet up on the pass side & check. Got any pics?

Who/what else parks where you park? It isn't possible for your car to leak "water/radiator fluid" in that location.

climb under there and check it out so you dont go crazy but i think the drain for the gas lid is a good callThe fuel bib drain is behind the gas tank and in the center of the car.

Maybe he means the passenger side rear of the front tire. My 85 leaked there once from a hose, what is that part of the heater?

I take his info as it is written. Chances are any water you found near (behind?) the right front tire was normal condensation from the A/C. That is normal for any car.

Another option is that it is leaking from the exhaust joint near the rear tire??? Antifreeze there would mean a blown head gasket also though???
I am just guessing and pointing at a place to look at a little closer.

:iagree: If it's water with antifreeze you have leaking headgasket between a water jacket and the combustion chamber.:banghead: If it's water only then it could be condensation and the fluid is leaking out of your exhaust pipe at a joint or a small rust hole:wazzzup: When the engine is running walk to the back and check to see if water is coming out the tailpipe. :toetap05: There will be some when you first start the car but after 10 minutes or so it should be all gone. On cold damp days it can do it all the time. If you do have a leaking headgasket you will have to keep adding coolent and you can get high pressure in the radiator.:eek6: Bar's leak makes a additive for headgasket leaks. Don't know how permanent it is but I do know that some have used it and years later it's still not leaking.:beer-fresh: So good luck and let us know how it turns out.:driving:

Thanks I think it is the head gasket also. So i will try the bar's leak for now. But this motor will have to come apart or be replaced.

Good luck with that buddy, hope it lasts until you are ready to do the whole motor!

:sickinbed: The Bars Leak will work for now just keep an eye on the coolant level till you get to the repair. The headgasket can be replaced and that should fix the problem but I have seen where the exhaust cuts a channel in the head or even the block. The Bars leak should keep this from happening but save up you pennys and get it fixed as soon as you can before it gets more exspenive. If the leak is still there after you put the Bars Leak in then the gasket is to far gone and don't drive it till you get it fixed. Don't want you to turn a $600 to $1000 repair into $3000 plus. Take care and let us know how it go's.:abduct:
