This morning on way into work a guy in a pretty nice looking RX-8 all riced out started going back and forth, back and forth. Hell I wasn't even done with my morning coffee yet? Why does everyone seem to want to race you because you have a Vette?
This is not the first time this has happened, I have kids in there little Hondas, those AWD Mitshibishi's and Subaru's who roll up on me on teh freeway and assume its the 24 hour Rolex race?
Is there some sort of methology about this? Don't get me wrong everyonce in a while I will entertain myself and step on the "Go" petal, but damn, not all the time!

If you're in the mood and it's safe and sane, then you can goose it for first/second gear. No harm in that. But it's NOT a road race, and it's not a quarter mile track when you're on the street. It's a bit insane to be going over a hundred miles and hour in a 40mph zone for instance, no matter how safe and sane it MIGHT seem. Way dangerous. And I won't even talk about the people who think it's okay to test the upper limits of these cars on the highway. It's just stupid.
First, you already own a vette, and they don't. Not that it makes you better or anything, but it DOES make you faster (in most cases) so you have nothing to prove. If they want to stop and chat and try to talk you into something, then take it to the STRIP (or road course, whatever your flavor of fun is).
For some reason they only car that likes to play with me on the street is the WRX STI, and (so far, cross fingers) I haven't come up against one that has been worth my time (and I allow that I WILL come up against one at some point, but I want to do it at the track, not the street).
My competition is other Z06's, Vipers and 911 turbos, here. And they don't feel the need to prove themselves, so why should I?

It seems that the ricers and Mustang folks think that the Corvette is at the top of the food chain to knock off.
I've had several quick stop light adventures with 350z and Boxsters with very good success.
However, I try to contain my past youth and Muscle Car era day's.
I don't think the Police will be very forgiving seeing a 50+ man street racing!

We all get it at one time or another. I actually cornered a kid one time after an attempt to get me to "race" and he said that he just wanted to see "one of those babies get on it!" So who knows...

How true, I agree that alot believe Corvettes are top of the food chain. Like a lion in the jungle getting challenged by smaller lions looking to be king of the jungle! Yeh, I watched discovery channel last night!

For those who like racing occasionally on the street, try a HPDE! There great and safer! Get some dot 4 brake fluid and some better brake pads and you should be ready to enjoy.

I would listen to this guy, I have followed most of his posts and it appears that he is a hardcore road racer (not freeway)!
