A buddy of mine has a '80 and he just installed a .30 over 454 in it. He is looking at an aluminum 2 core with duel electric fans. he uses his car for long fast road trips more than in town driving. will the 2 core do the job or should he go for a 4 core? Does anybody know what the coolant volume is for a big block? I was always told a big block needs 4 core. I figure better to cool more coolant than actually gets exchanged when the thermo opens since it's not always just open or closed. any help would be great.

i would go with a 4-core personally. i have a 4-core in my 79' 350. i would think having a 2 core would be way too small, but maybe with fans and being that its aluminum it would work.
