1st of all has anyone done a stall converter change in your garage? Is it even possible? I have a buddy with a lift that I can use anytime I need to.

My main question is after a new stall is installed, do I need to get the car tuned? Can the shift points remain the same? I'm looking at a 3000 stall, will this increase should I expect any codes that I will need to get addressed? My C6 is a '05 with of course the A4 tranny.

I'm looking at a Yank converter or Vigillanti.

A tuner may jump into this one, I do believe you will get some codes and will need a tune to let the computer know there is a different stall in the car. I have a 2800 Yank converter in mine and will say I've tried a couple different makes out there and I'm very happy with this unit. Give Dave a ring, he'll get you taken care of.

A lift will make it much easier to install a converter, but it is possible to do on your own. Refilling the trans with fluid, you'll need a rig something up.

A converter usually won't set any codes, but it is possible that some of the idle tables might have to be edited, as well as the torque managment, which usually doesn't like the higher stall.
