So for a while randomly I would hear a very loud buzzing sound when I turned off my car. Now it is happening every time I turn off the headlamps. It lasts for about 20 seconds or so, and it's doing it every time. The lights still go up and down just fine, but that buzz is annoying!

Any ideas?

Is it from the front? I have heard of fuel pumps making a buzzing noise?

I've done lots of Nissan fuel pump issues, and this buzz is much louder, and definetly coming from the front.

I've heard the gears that raise and lower the headlamps are plastic and strip easy, and going aftermarket bronze is the thing to do. Still not sure why the noise though. It's louder than plastic scraping together. :confused:

You should have someone help you out. Hood up and turn the car off and have the other person in the front listening.

The only "buzzing" noise I can think of is going to be the fuel pump, but you said its in the front?

Sounds like you might have a headlight motor going bad if you hear it when you turn your headlights off. That noise is just the harbinger of a motor that is about to go out or is on it's last legs.

Mine was making the same noise not long after we bought her, so I replaced both motors asap before it became an issue.

I think these motors and gears are weak links, I bet its one of your motors going out the door.

Yes, the buzz is defintely coming from the front driver's side. I guess the consensus is the motor is going. Time to see how hard that is to replace. I've heard it isn't too bad. So first step is to price out a motor!

Your looking at $180 for the motor and $30 for new gears. You might as well change the gears while you have it torn apart. Good luck buddy
