Just replaced the head gaskets. Coolant is leaking from inside the exhaust manifold on the left side where it bolts to Y pipe. Any ideas?

Did you have the heads decked or at least have them checked for warp? WW

If the water is coming from the inside of the exhaust manifold, as you say, that has nothing to do with the head gasket or a warped head gasket surface. Water can only exit through the exhaust manifold that entered through a cracked head. Maybe a cracked intake manifold or bad head to intake manifold gasket, but not likely. Good luck, and...

Hello.
A bad Head Gasket Can and Will Leak from the Exhaust. Coolant leaks in to the Cylinder then out the Exhaust Valve when it's open. How did you Torque the Aluminum Heads? Did you replace the head bolts?

David SteeleYou are right, of course. I didn't consider the new gasket job continuing to leak. When the cooling system keeps running out of water, the water has to be going somewhere. If it isn't filling the oil pan, it can run out of the tail pipes. I HOPE it isn't a cracked head.

With the radiator full and remove the all the plugs turn the engine over. You will probably see water spray out of a sparkplug hole or two. Those are the cylineders where the gasket is blowen. If no water comes out then the gasket may be ok.:toilet:
