im sure there will be a few questions.he use to drag race this car but he cut nothing at all and saved all the original parts to put it back together.i have found and ran #s on the parts so far so good.you wont believe your eyes when you see how nice it is.the engine has been sitting so long that i will have to totally rebuild it,but i wont run the injection or points.my plan is to make the 283 into a 302 full roller motor.it wont take long to get on the road.thanks all.

holy cow i pumped the brakes and after two pumps the brakes were good and hard.so this winter im going to go threw them and get them in shape.i also decided to bring this car back out like it was when he raced it,for a while anyway like a tribute to him in his glory days.people are going to crap when they see it on the road this summer and im telling know one that knew him about my plans i want to suprise them.i will get a pic up as soon as i can i have been very swamped and im disabled from spinal fusion so im kind slow on getting things done.but my buddy is set to help me get the motor and tranny in and back on the road.:blahblah:

ok im going to start gettting a engine around so when spring hits im ready for the first cruise in 31 years.so should i build the 283?if so im thinking of making it in to a 302 and yes this is the original engine or i have a 70 vett block 350 with double hump heads.the guy whos going to build my engine we talked about the 283 and making it a complete rolled motor with power in the 300-350 hp range or the 350 in to a 383 around 375-400 hp.witch engine should i build??i would like to put the rite engine back in the vett but also want some grunt, any thought fells?i want to start this engine soon.i would hate to have the 283 sitting around so im not sure yet on what i want.oh ya i ran the numbers on the injection and its off a 64 vett and i havent found the original one yet.:blahblah:

Welcome to SmokinVette.

Congratulations on the Vette. Cool story and sounds like a great project.

If it were mine, I would keep the 283.

Good luck and posts some pictures of the Vette when you can.
