I’m opening up a can of worms here. I don’t know your driving history or if this is your first C5 or not. If this is happening under power or even at what speed, Is Active Handling activated? But here goes!

First off the C5 has tremendous handling capabilities in stock trim. I used to Autocross in Europe and I’m telling you these cars with or without active handling active really stick nicely.

It’s very possible there is something wrong with the car if the rear is that loose! I would check your suspension very thoroughly.

The weakest suspension/handling item on the stock cars is the run flats or run craps as we like to call them! They are hard, noisy, and prone to wheel hop. Swapping these out for even a decent non-runflat tire will net noticeable gains. One popular tire is the Goodyear GSD3s, if you’re concerned about getting stranded with a flat carry a Z06 tire kit or make your own emergency kit…

The single biggest gain in performance is to get a different gear set in your differential. Need more info on your car to recommend one but a 3:42 for an Auto and 3:73 or 4:11 for a stick will make it feel like a whole different car! And IMO is the single biggest banc for your buck you can make!

Next is old school, open up the intake and exhaust. Then get a quality tune. There are many options out there from a really good flowing, very cheap DIY intake to the $500.00 plus Callaway Honker. Nothing much has changed in the exhaust world, all the expensive catback systems are mainly for looks and sound, offering little gains in performance. Get some headers and high flow cats, then you’ll notice a difference. One really good option is to get a good header system (including high flows and a true X pipe) coupled to a stock Z06 catback. The Z06 mufflers flow really well, are very light and can be picked up used pretty cheaply.

Hope this helps!

Upgrade to Z06 shocks, sway bars. You might need better tires too
