Hey guys, posted a brief story up in the new members forum. If you wanna know "why" im asking this stuff, read there.

I know the next thing you'll say, use the search button. Well I have, for about 45 minutes now, and google sucks too. I need very specific info and they don't seem to know.

1:Clutch system on an c5 corvette with the manual transaxle. Is it cable or hydrolic.
2:How well does the manual transaxle hold up to power/torque. Whats the breaking point for it?
3:Whats the best year for the manual transaxle, are they all the same?
4:Do you know anyone who is/has swapped the transaxle/rear end into a non corvette or non chevy vehicle?
5: A good dealer for stock corvette parts.
6:

Well, that's all I can think of that remains unanswered on my list right now. I do appreciate the help guys. Hopefully youre open and responsive to it.

2:How well does the manual transaxle hold up to power/torque. Whats the breaking point for it? don't know the breaking point but can tell you they are strong.
3:Whats the best year for the manual transaxle, are they all the same? I believe you will be good with any C5
4o you know anyone who is/has swapped the transaxle/rear end into a non corvette or non chevy vehicle? Nope
5: A good dealer for stock corvette parts. gmpartsdirect.com

Let's see if I can help you with some info,

1.clutch system is hydraulic, there are a lot of options in aftermarket clutches, adjustable slave cyl. etc for power levels up to 1000+ RWHP

2.The trans/rearend assembly is very strong, the 01-04 ZO6 version is a little stronger, and has a little taller gear ratios, the rear is available with factory ratios 2.73/3.15/3.42, aftermarket hardened shafts, and gearsets in more ratios are avilable

3.I would go with the 01-04 ZO6 trans, depending on whast ratio rear end you want, the later year rears are more desireable.

4.The biggest problem is going to be the suspension attaching points. Depending on what you're putting this in, you may have to fabricate new framerails, crossmembers, etc. to get it in place. The next issue will be the torque tube, will the C5 Vette piece bolt up to your engine? and fit the chassis? or are you going to adapt the existing piece to the ZO6 trans?

5. agree with above

Hope this helps,
Ed
