I want to replace the Bose Stereo in my 2001 Vette. The Owners Manual states that messing around with the stock system can cause problems with other areas of the car. Does anyone know if this is really a problem or have any helpful suggestions?

I have just replaced my factory unit and I did not have any issues. I have however heard that some people had issues with their catalytic converters and cigarette lighters but this isnt confirmed.

Just a side note for you. I left the Bose speakers in because it was gonna be too much work trying to get 8" subs in those doors and the life of the speaker is gonna be reduced by humidity and moisture think about it everytime you open your door in the rain those speakers will get wet. I got a special harness made by seagate it cost $112.00 but it was worth it.
