I just got a oil change this morning and when I picked up the car they gave me bill for $84.17?? Its been awhile since I have brought the car in for an oil change but know I have never spent this much for an oil change?

I'm thinking for $84 I should have gotten a full tank of gas too! I need to check with my man to see what he has paid in the past.

What you think did I get ripped off?

I usually have my man do my oil changes but in the past have paid about $50 for oil change. $84 for oil change? You didn't get the best deal in town. I just had a complete tune up that was like $1287 at the end of the day. These cars aren't cheep to work on.

My last oil change was less than $50 bucks. But then again, I do it myself. :D

I think you REALLY got ripped off !! :(

LOL - I agree kitty you got taken oil change should be only around $40 to $50 max. Did they at least wash your car with the oil change? :D

5 qt jug of Mobil1 is 22.00 at Wal-Mart, couple extra qts at 5.00, so 32.00 for oil, 8.00 filter, so 40.00 bucks in parts. Depending on how good a job they did (check all other fluids, advise, check tire press. wipe down eng bay, check air filter) If they did a very thorough job, then 45.00 in labor isn't un-reasonable. If they dumped it in, and spilled oil everywhere, didn't do anything else, and racked up a few miles on your car, then I would say you overpaid.

This will be the last time they do my oil! I was seriously wondering whether the oil prices had gone up like the gas prices!

It cost me a max of $50 to do mine...Either do it yourself or find a new place...My mechanic charges $10 in labor plus Oil & Filter. Trustworthy Mechanics are hard to come by these days in my area.
Especially if you are female...They see an opportunity to take advantage and most do...
