Okay, here's how I break it down.

First you know you want a vette, and make sure of the tranny first. Do you really want an auto or a 6speed. Then the color. I'm so very glad I waited to find an Electron Blue, although I would have been okay with Millenium Yellow or black.

Mods: what are you doing with the car? I come from a drag racing background and several sports cars, so I kind of knew what I wanted. You do NOT pay for other peoples mods unless they are EXACTLY what you would have done.

Mileage: the miles are good for a daily driver vette, not good for a low mile one. Are you a driver or do you want a garage queen? For a driver these miles are totally acceptable. A 2001 should be around 80k miles, so I'd say you're okay there.

Does it have ALL books and reciepts for all that work? If it doesn't, then it's worth a LOT less.

The sports car market (all cars actually) has dropped away with the mess at the stock market and with feds dropping rates again.

Nada loan value for this car is 19.5k. Trade in value is 21.5k and retail in good condition is almost 25k. So you are getting this at a little bit more than trade in value, which is a GOOD thing. (these are southwest mountain figures, you *might* be able to bump it up a bit for Socal, or it could be less since there's more market there, I'm not sure)

Next step is to drive it. Make sure it is tight. If you haven't driven a corvette before then it will FEEL amazing! After you get to know the cars you'll start to feel what's good and bad. Bringing someone along that has a vette already would be a great idea if you can do it.

Horsepower wise that car should be putting down at least 350 RWHP, which will feel pretty darn good to you! If you want to be the fastest guy around, it won't be enough. Wait for a deal on a Z06 and start building from there (which is what I did).

Just remember: there are a LOT of corvettes, and you can pass one up easily because there WILL be another coming along. So don't ever feel pressure to jump at "a deal" when it comes to a vette.

Next time I'm shopping for a car I will need to hit you up! You covered everything! Anyway (I forgot the original poster's name) are you going to be selling that convertible you have or getting a second one?
