and if so, which do you go to or recommend? and a friend of mine mentioned he has used cables on his vette to drive to the snow, can this hurt? I typically garage my vette over the winter, but am thinking this year I may run her a bit here and there.

Here's how i see it, your regular tires are good for dry/rain, thats called a summer tire, if its snowing or icy, its vertually impossible to drive the vette, i drive the suburban on those days.
I dont change tires for snow/or ice and my summer tires are good for rain, and dry roads.
