Hello everyone, recently my clutch pedal is sticking down, and sometimes the clutch doesn't disengage. I checked the fluid in resovoir and it was low. I put new fluid in it, but it keeps going down and there is now leakage on the floor or in engine compartment that I can see. If I pump the clutch pedal it seems to help enough to disengage clutch, but its kind of hard to drive if I have to pump every time I want to stop or shift.
Does anyone have any trouble shooting hints or web sites that I can go to to do the trouble shooting myself and or replace parts properly?
I like to do the work on the car myself as I learn a lot on how it actually works.
please advise, as I can not drive it any more it got to the point that pumping it doesn't help anymore.
Thanks

Sounds to me with the information given you need a new slave cylinder

I agree you either have a bad slave cylinder or master cylinder. You need to pinpoint where it is leaking from. If it is the slave leaking you should be seeing fluid leaking right in the center of the car, and the bottom of the Bell housing should be wet.

This is very easy fix. Find where the leak is coming from, if it's master cylinder replace it then get your neighbor's wife to help you bleed it and your good to go.

Thanks for the info. This morning I raised the car up crawled under it and found that the leak is very noticable around the bottom of the clutch flywheel inspection plate. So I removed the exhaust system and removed the inspection plate and found that the actuation cylinder is leaking pretty bad. Now I need to replace with new but have no clue on how to remove.
Does anyone have a procedure for doing this? I know that in order to replace the clutch you have to remove the torque tube and the whole rear end. Do you have to do this just to replace the actuator cylinder? please advise.
thanks.

You are going to have to get the splines all the way out of the clutch in order to slide the new slave on. Now I don't have a DIY but I know that one of these guys here does, like Junkman, Tstar or a handful of other people here.:thumbsup3:

I wonder if the bleeder screw might have just come loose? You may want to see if you can tighten the bleeder screw which will be sticking out the housing on the drivers side towards the top. If it is loose, you are going to need to bleed the whole system.

I will definately check this. It sounds much easier than replacing the actuator cylinder
