No, not me. I have been pulled over for going between 10 and 20 mph over the posted speed limit, but never been given a ticket of anything ove 10 mph over the speed limit. I have been lucky (knock on wood).

:thumbsup3: Yes I have and I'm not a cute or young or even a woman. I'm a big old ugly 60 year old man. :drool5: The last three times I have been stopped I didn't get a ticket. Two times I was on my motorcycle and one time in my Ranger 4X4. The times on my motorcycle I was only going a few miles over the limit. It was 1 am and cold outside maybe the cop fell sorry for this old guy that had to ride a bike to work in the cold night air. I live up in the mountains of California. The other time I was in my Ranger it was 12:45 am the cop asked my if I knew how fast I was going ? I said: I didn't have any idea. I may of been going 10 miles over + or - 2 miles per. Two times I went to court and the cop didn't show up and got out of it. I work nights so it doesn't cost me to go to court.:worship:

Hehe, I spent 8 years as a police officer before I started flying full time. The last department I was at, the chief sent 3 of us through radar operator certification, so now I know a LOT of tricks to getting out of a ticket! Guess those 8 years werent a complete waste. 3 good ones to use in court are:

1. Is the ticketing officer a certified radar operator (some states require this certification).

2. Has the radar unit been calibrated within the past year (it's a requirement for it to be legal)

3. Did the officer check the calibration of the unit during his shift, prior to it being used to check your speed. (most departments require a log to be kept of calibration checks, so ask to see it. If they dont, it's his word against yours as to whether or not the unit is functioining accurately).

These wont always work, but they're always worth a try. I've got alot more, but they get pretty technical when you start talking about how doppler radar works and how it must be used in order to obtain accurate speed readings.:blahblah:

Great information. I hope I never need to use it though.

This was old timer town cop.Saw him out of corner of my eye when I was shifting to 4th. Me and girlfriend (brunette) stopped and waited on him. He chewed my a$$ for awhile, said nice car and let us go.

Hey I feel ya: the FL/GA line has very bad speed traps and is usually FHP. Hey I used to work for Publix also. Started bagging at 16, then bottle room, stock, and even came back to a part time stocking job in college with my wife, who worked cust. serv. counter from 16-22 years old. I still shop there today, good market.

it's his word against yours
Like our word means jack ____!
Dec.31st 2002, 11:30pm some pigglet puts a ticket on my car parked in front of my house for expired plates. I take the registration to the Pueblo municipal court for the hearing date on the ticket. The POS municipal judge says that it is the pigglet's word over mine even though the state issued registration shows that it doesn't expire untill April 2003, which would still give me till May 30th. And he makes me pay court costs also since i didn't pay the ticket with-in x# days after written and before the hearing date. It is mostly all a money scam.
I have gone into courts and begged forgiveness for some reason that i was just not paying attention at the time of the speeding ticket. I don't have any others on my record since i was a kid, "could you please grant me deferment"? They always have. This means that you pay a fine, ussually reduced from the original, and if you don't get any more tickets durring the deferement period it will not be entered into your record. This will save you on insurance and DMV requirements when renewing your lic..
Good luck.

Let me see if I understand this... cop writes you a ticket for expired plates on Dec. 31 of 2002. Your LEGAL registration for that vehicle clearly states that the plates dont expire until April of 2003. Then, you go before the judge and show him this, and he makes you pay the fine anyway, partly because you didnt just pay the fine without contest a few days after the ticket was written, but BEFORE the court appearance date? And you didnt appeal that to a higher court? I realize it's just a traffic violation, but that whole situation was bogus. And yeah, in most courts of law, your word DOES mean something, as long as you can back up what you're saying with cold hard facts or evidence. I do realize there are exceptions to that, though, in smaller jursidictions where the good ole boy network takes precidence over the law. I'm guessing this was the case in your situation?

That is about all i can figure...They were out to screw me over! New-Years eve 11;30 at night...Doesn't a cop have some-thing better to do? I had to be at work at 5am so i didn't find it till i was on my way out.
When i went to get a copy of the transcripts on this i was told that the municipal court of Pueblo is not a court of record and doesn't have any transcript. I even asked the judge ,during the hearing, why any-ones word would even apply since the state issued registration shows the date and time the plates were renewed. His answer was along the line of it doesn't matter i am taking the cops word that the plates were expired. If i could have found a way to get documentation i would have sued that judge and fought for his disbarment. Every-one i spoke to said i needed a transcript... That is FUBAR in any-ones dictionary!
To this day i would love to see that judge sitting on a corner with a "will work for food" sign...or staring out of bars. To me that is the least of what he deserves. I have zero respect for any court or cop in this town because of it...they should all burn!:DeadHorse:
But you still need to play the game. Blue River County (Breckenridge) had the coolest cops and Judge i have run into. Past a radar trap at about 90 in a 30MPH work zone (at night no workers), had to wait at top of pass for him to catch up. He writes it for 45 in a 30... at court i try to claim the wrong size tires had my speedo off and beg for deferment. Get 6mths deferred and $15 court costs w/ no fine...You don't get easier than that.
Like i said...try to beg for defered in exchange for guilty plee and hope. IF your record is clean that is. Try to show up early and beg this with a prosecuting attorney, if they have one, just before court. Also try to show that it could cost you your job, if you drive as part of work. They just want the money most of the time. I have gotten off fairly easy on about 8-9 speeding tickets and a couple of others over about 20years using this...I guess maybe the plates were Karma catching up??? But Still!
Good Luck
