I've got a 1999 vette convertible with standard trans. very nice car just bought couple months ago. I am very disappointed in the stereo though, it sounds like an old am transitor radio. Any ideas on what could be wrong with it. I do not believe it is a bose because I see no bose labels any where.
Also am looking for manuals #1 and #2 I have #3.
thanks for your help.

Hi,

Does it look lke the one pictured below?

Mine sounds pretty good, most audiophiles complain about the stock Bose system though. It's very proprietary and if someone added aftermarket speakers or a Radio to it it could be messed up.

I love the sound of the Bose its the one thing I havent changed on my car. Sounds like someone else liked it to and took it with them when they sold the car.

The stereos in the C5's sounded pretty decent for stock. My guess is that either the speakers are blown, or someone messed with the stereo and didn't put it back correctly before they sold it!

I agree with ShockerRacing.... sounds like the speakers could be blown... we had a 1999 that we needed to replace the speakers as a result of being blown!
