I have looked all over and can't find. I seem to always find hoods for newer Corvettes. I have seen them out there, just have no idea where else to look? Oh and let me add that I came across a carbon fiber one for over $2000 - looking for fiberglass under $1500 to spend. Thanks

I have seen the vent grills you can add that mount behind the headlights. Is that the look your looking for?Or a high rise hood?

I was looking closely today at a MCM raptor hood on a C5. It has the crease down the center and such just as our C4's.
I can't see a reason why a competent body person couldn't graft one (or mold a new one) onto the C4 hood? It's one of the few designs that I think would look awesome on our cars:)

I'm not sure on the exact look that I'm after, was hoping to simply see some different hoods actually installed on a C4 already. As far as custom work, I am looking to spend or keep this under $1500 so I think custom work or grafting will put a hood out of the price range I wanted to spend? thanks for all the help

Molding a new hood would be expensive huh?

Not necesssarily. It depends on how much of the work you can do yourself. Making the mold off the stock hood is relatively easy, although it won't have the underside detail, and molding a glass hood onto the stocker would be a piece of cake.

Been working with photoshop to get some new ideas for the C4 since everything else out there is either boring or too common.

You good at photoshop? Interested to see what you come up with for the C4's.

I'm still a rookie at photoshop but I've been working with a graphic artist who is great!

When we're done, I'll post up some ideas and you folks can give me your opinions:cheers:

Lets see what you have? I agree alot of what is circulating around is a bit over played:willy_nilly:

I have been looking for a c5r style vented hood for my c4 for a long time as well. Do you have a link to the carbon fibre one? I'd love just to see one so i can regain my lost hope.

Is it really that slim findings for a hood like this? I have an '86 and looking at different options and things to do. A vented or raised hood was one of things I thought would look ****!

I will let you know if I come across anything. Are you set on a carbon fiber one or will fiberglass work if I find?

You can get cowl induction hoods or cut in louvers everywhere but a real race style vent hood seems too much for ppl. I personally dont care if its fibreglass or carbon fibre. I'm probably gonna have to get one made for the car from scratch.

The greenwood hoods are a lot more aggressive looking than stock. I'm looking for something more based in function than aesthetics. I'm just looking for a hood with this C5R Radiator vent configuration. If anyone knows a good fabricator capable of making a hood like this for a c4 let me know 'cause I've been looking for what seems like forever.

Here is what I did. I paid $ 21.00 plus shipping for a pair of louvers from a 1989 Datsan Z289 . One was rectangular and one was same shape but also had a angled triangular section attached. I cut off the triangular section and had 2 identical Hood Louvers.
I cut out the holes to fit the louvers , inserted them using SMC Vette adhesive and finished the edges with SMC Adhesive/filler.
Total job cost me about $ 80.00 plus my time ( 6 hours max) mostly sanding/priming repeated until perfect.
Make sure you use cloth over seem so it does not crack with vibration.
I than took the angled /triangle and used it in the middle/front of the hood like the Viper and new C6 Vette. This was the most work because after mounting, I had to Fill it until it was straight.
I haven't added any pictures yet but will.
e-mail me and I will send for now.
Just joined the sight today.
If your hood is good than don't waste your money on a complete hood. You can buy Custom Vents from Corvette Central or Ecklers for around $180.00 that are simple to install and do not need any after body work as well.
Have fun !

I wish I had some pics that I could show you of my '85 with a cowl added to the hood. I've had many good comments on it. The hoodscoop itself I bought off of ebay for about $180. I had a local body shop install it onto my stock tilt front end. I see no reason why a person couldn't use a holesaw and cut holes into the scoop area thru the hood and then install a screen at the rear of the cowl area, closest to the windshield. I may be able to find my paperwork with the sellers ebay name so you could do an ebay search on him. He had about two or three pics with this scoop on car hoods. I was sold when I saw it mounted on a C4 Vette. This might just be what you're wanting.
