I've just rebuilt my 4+3 tranny, but I'm not entriely sure how the +3 functions. Do you just swich it on at crusing speed or do you have to shift the 4 into neutral and then switch on the +3?

:burnout: they are fun to drive have one in my 86 vet pace car convertible ,i use mine like a four speed and on the expressways hit the button for overdrive to bring down the rpm,s in fourth gear ,but you can use it in city traffic in second or third ,to,takes some getting use to ,but once you do it is a great transmission , PS no you do not have to put it in neutral to activate it you just hit the button on top of shifter in 2nd ,,3rd ,,or 4th,, to use it ,but like i said most often i use it in forth on main roads over 55mph,,

Hello
On the 84 the switch is in the center console and its not as much fun as the later ones with it on the shifter like yours, But still fun to play with.

David Steele:doh: I KNEW THAT///// :iagree: i just moved mine into the center console next to power seat switches ,had problems with it not working all the time button cap is broken on top of shifter ,so i moved it there and just glued the cap back on top of the shifter, actually like it better there ,less accidental activations, hard to find shifter cap parts so decided to move it and just hot glue the cap back on
