Was looking at some things and was curious what are the differences between the 1984 Cross Fire Injection system and for example the 1985+ Tune Port Injection systems?

If you dig around enough you should find enough info on the net. The crossfire was basically a dual TBI setup, whereas the tuned port injection utilized a fuel injector on each intake runner. The longer runners in the TPI setup promotes intake charge velocity and thus low end torque and throttle response. I can't speak for the tuneablility difference as I haven't messed with any crossfire systems in that respect. I have heard claims of superior performance from the crossfire system, but as the saying goes "You can go as fast as you can afford"

I have herad from a few machinics that the TPI is the superior system. I have a TPI and it's great.

In reality all intake systems are superior to each other in a certain area, for instance the crossfire system flows much better above 4500 rpm, but the tpi system creates much higher charge velocity and low end torque. With engines there is no sure fire winner in anything. You just have to match your parts to all work in the same power band. The TPI was released later and therefore has better electronics so its more efficient, but the difference in manifold performance is just the power band.
