Do these waxes work at all? There is so much marketing out there its hard to tell these days what works and what doesn't with out having to purchase the stuff.
How about clay bars? It looks like a pain? :D

I don't have experience with colored waxes. If you do a search for waxes and clay bars you will see that most recommend Zano wax and what I have seen the clay bars do work, its just a time consuming job.

I usually clay bar my car once a year.I think its pretty easy. Clay baring is easier than waxing. After I clay barred the first time and waxed the shine and smoothness was incredible.Adams has about the best products that I have found.

I agree, I clay bar once a year as well, you can't beat it for getting all the crud out that's embedded in your paint! I use detailers spray for the lubricant...
Forget colored waxes! There are alot of great waxes out there, for me the number one consideration is paint protection especially ater clay barring. To that end I use Collinite Insulator Wax it shines nice and wears like iron.

You know what I tried the colored waxes also and didn't see any major difference or improvements. Actually I have tried the clay bars also, not my thing.

I really can't see a difference after claying but you can feel the difference BIG time. An old trick is to place your hand in a sandwhich bag and rub across your clean paint before and after claying, the difference is amazing!! I do see a difference after wax is on and buffed...
I use Clay Magic, I believe it's called. There are three different "grits" and each block comes in a plastic cover. There's some carton of a block of clay on the front... Like I said use Detailers Spray ( Maquires) for the lubricant. It's important that you keep your paint wet with it while doing it and DO NOT drop the bar, if you do, throw it away.

Key to claybarring being easy is the lubricant - no problem if you use the lubricant supplied with some clay or use a good detailer. I've tried the color waxes before on other cars - not my Vette - and saw no difference - designed to get you to buy it more than anything else in my opinion. You would think though that it would hide some small scratches and such - but I never thought it helped one bit.
