: PC or MAC?
waverunner 10-08-2007, 08:35 AM Smokin Lounge? Great idea!
Well heres my first question here. I need a new computer, this weekend I was in the computer store and looking at some new computers. I saw this HP laptop with a 22" touch screen! This thing was amazing with a priced tag of $2999  ouch! Not really practical as a laptop but was so cool.
Any way I currently own a PC and have owned one for years. I always seem to get viruses on my machine. The guy at the computer store said that going with a MAC would be less spy ware and viruses? I played around with one of the MAC's there and I noticed it was different than PC's.
Question is what do you guys recommend? MAC or PC? What are you running?
derek.messer 10-08-2007, 01:06 PM If seen that HP and it is nice, save some $$ and get a Mac, I moved over from PC to MAC about 3 years ago, first couple weeks you are getting used to the different operation system. I would never go back to PC, plus as you pointed out, there are less viruses, because most of the bad people that make those focus on PC's because most people have them.
cwatson69 10-08-2007, 01:56 PM I switched to a MacBook Pro 17" laptop about a year ago and haven't looked back. One of the biggest thing I've noticed is when you buy a new peripheral you just plug it in and go. No problems with conflicts with drivers from something else. I also love the backlit keyboard that allows you to keep working in the dark.

bosshog 10-08-2007, 06:33 PM If you have the right software (virus and spam protection) PC is easier to operate. Thats my 2 cents!
Vette-007 10-09-2007, 06:35 AM Desktop and tablet PC, always have worked fine for me

I was looking at the same HP labtop in Fry's Electronics this weekend. I'm not sure whether that computer is actually a "laptop" to say... its hugh! However it received my attention... the touch screen, finger print deal, HP raised the bar with that machine.
--XXX-- 10-11-2007, 02:58 PM Always have used a PC, wanted to switch over, just don't feel like learning how to use a MAC
snowman35 12-02-2009, 02:52 PM i've had them both and find that the pc is alot easier

Really depends on what you want to do with it...
wayback 12-02-2009, 03:12 PM I love my MAC.
:iagree: Easiest to operate and no virus problems. Hate my PC at work. Mac is literally plug and play. Have a 15 in MacBookPro.
hulksdaddy 12-02-2009, 03:38 PM Mac all the way.:thumbsup3:
BAD-C5 12-02-2009, 03:39 PM PC cant afford the MAC....
USNChief 12-02-2009, 06:58 PM If you are working on graphics, photos, or video, then Mac is the way too go. Yes they are less prone to viruses. I have had to use them both and I own both. I would lean towards the Mac.
awnuts 12-02-2009, 07:15 PM PC here I wont do mac because of all the special Mac stuff that you have to get.Plus theres very little programs and not much in games either. Then I have always wondered if Mac was so good why do the greatest number of users emulate windows? lol
Pappytinker 12-02-2009, 07:34 PM If you will forgive me for saying so, the Consumer Reports rates Apple support more than 20 points higher than any other tested machine for both laptops and desktops. And, they rate Apple number 1 in all tested laptop size categories.
Tsquare 12-03-2009, 12:57 AM If you want a gaming machine get an Alienware, otherwise my choice is a Mac.
I am currently running a laptop with XP (after getting tired of the hasseles with Vista). When it craps out I am headed for a MAC. I also purchased a Mac for my son this past summer when he headed off to college - he loves it.
awnuts 12-03-2009, 04:21 AM Not Alienware.Dell bought them out and the Dell XPS series is cheaper and just as good.I got an old Alienware it blew out after 2 years. So far I rebuilt the insides twice and did it for a fraction of what i originally paid for the alien.Alien was hot stuff at one time but not no more.

cough, cough (clears throat)... I have a quick announcement to make.... HP SUCKS AZZ. I repeat HP SUCKS AZZ!
Used HP for about approx 12 years. Swore by them. But as time went by , like everything else you can feel/see the quality & the service...deteriorate.
The last home computer we bought (this year) was bad right out of the box.
Took it back,. 2nd computer 2 weeks later, bad ram card!
If you can understand the overseas customer support, they try to be courteous but they are useless.
They refused to send me a new ram card. Pretty crappy experience. Long story. To tired to write. Bottom line, run don't walk away from HP. FN garbage.
I too have been entertaining getting a mac.
*Side note: Just heard tonight that you should NOT download anything from microsoft (their website) There is a virus the "black wall" or somthing... Don't know all the facts. Just a cawinkyding my friend told me about 2 hr's ago..
Stanks.
snowman35 12-03-2009, 08:52 PM i prefer a pc,...it was alot faster for me

Stanks.:goodpost: I'm writing this on a HP right now. 2 years old and 2 hard drives. Funny thing is computer comes with 1 year warranty. When I bought the new hard drive it was the exact same brand, size. An exact replacement but it comes with a 5 year warranty. Is that some bs or what?
