I am looking at buying a 93 Vette (VERY EXCITED). My brother drove it for me the other day and said that the steering column itself was loose. The guy selling the car said that was common with Vettes as people tend to pull themselves in and out with the wheel. It sounds like the steering is tight, just the column is loose.
Is this common and is it a difficult fix?
Thanks

The vette steering colums always seemed a little loose to me because of the tilt/telescopic wheel.

Upon further reveiw this is a common problem with the 91-95 steering colums.SOunds pretty involved in rebuilding it.But it does need to be repaired.Get a price quote and knock it off the price of the car.

I have a 1990 and it has a little play in it? Didn't know you could rebuild these things realistically?

From what I have heard, you can replace the bearings and the mounting bolts.Doesn't sound like anything I would attempt.

Couple hours if mechanically inlcined. Air bag is easy, take fuse out, then disconnect battery for MORE than 10 minutes. Unbolt it from back of steering column, then slowly pull out and disconnect cable to column. Then lay down flat on passenger seat.
