New here all and have a 1996 Vette that I've turned into a project. I was wonder how realistic does these C4 to C5 body kits look after they have been installed? I understand the interior and engine of course will be different? thanks for your help!

Personally I think they look funny. Its quite noticeable that the car is not proportioned correctly. If I had a '96 vette I would make a grand sport or a collectors edition clone.

Never cared for these types of conversion kits, have seen it on other types of cars also. After doing all the work, might be cheaper to have bought a C5!

I have a 1996 C4 LT1 Collectors Edition, I will need to get a digitial camera and figure on how to get the photos on line to show you my car. These photos are nice, especially the blue Vette.

Back to your question on the body kit, sorry buddy doesn't work with me either!

On the '96 CE did they put any special badges or interior emblems to denote its collector status?

You said it best, if you want a C5 trade the C4 in, that body kit does not look good. Sorry

You want a C5 buy a C5. Conversions in my opinion always look cheap and takes value from the car.

My question would be WHY??? I think the c4 body looks way better than a c5. If you want a c5 look buy a c5.

Well , well , I guess I am of different mind. I had a C4 and wanted to do something different just like you probably do. Yes, if I wanted a C5 than I would just buy one !!!!!!
However, I wanted a custom C4 that I could customize and have a lot of fun working on. My wife bought me a t-shirt that says: " Still playing with cars" so I decided to do just that.
I now have a SRC85 as my "Handle" says that people WOW over and love. Nothing but turned heads and admiration. I have had people Roll down windows while driving and tell me how great it looks.
Looks funny and disproportionate? I do not think so if you do it right.

I just joined today so I can't post a picture yet but will and you will see what I mean. My neighbour has a 2005 C5 and is pissed off because my car gets the looks and attention - enough said.
If you want to see it just ask me.

Welcome aboard to the best
Corvette Forum on the net!!

Keep the body stock.
If you want a C5 , go buy one.
Those kits usually end up
looking strange and kill your
resale value!!

Money, it was much cheaper for me to buy this conversion, it does look different, kinda funny to me too. but its close and it cost 1/2 of the price of the one I want. when I get all rich and famous I will have a 2002 Z06. Mabey a vert, while I am dreaming.

Personally I'm content with my C4 body style, but you do make a strong point about customizing :thumbsup3: something different is always nice.

I tried to look, but e-bay says listing no longer available....
Bottom line is...if YOU like it, it's your car, make it the way you want it.
I have always liked the Grand Sport look as well, and have seen a lot of them cloned, but that isn't for everyone either.

I'm not a fan of clones at all. I think if you want to stand out there are many mods available. Ground effects, engine mods ect. Corvettes are all beautiful enough with out trying to turn it into something its not.

Anyway thats my .02

Okay the C5 Kit looks OK on C4 when looking at pictures..but I saw one personally that had the a C5 kit..man it looked weird especially when you have the C4 stock doors on it still:ack2: .. Bulky front and rear end made it look.......like a wannabe C5...

in my opinion...the c5 conversion would look a lot better if you used the right wheels/spacers. What makes them look funny are the wheels look like they are sucked in to much.

if you want a C5 buy a C5, if you want custom, customize it. Custom dont come in a kit.

C4s look awesome

C5s look awesome

But when they genetically merge their dna in a $900 body kit..well...they look good but something just seems out of place in my opinion.

If a guy likes it and it looks hawt after some good body work good for him! To each his own - the reality is a guy can pick up a C5 for under 10k if he looks pretty hard.

And having a real C5 would always give piece of mind over having an allllllllmost C5 with an older C4 vette.

just my 2 copper

okay i have a c4 about to be converted... it was in a nice lil crash... anyway it would have cost a **** ton for body panels and for the amount of the kit it was way under... but in my humble opinion here is why i like it.

i love the feel of my c4 it feels like im flying a fighter jet! the suspension and turning feels so amazing! now i have driven a c5 and well i hated it... i mean it looks amazing but i perfer the feel of the c4... so i have the best of both worlds, not to mention the yellow makes this car very choppy looking no offense but black mills it all together much better as well as well as my c5 doors and scissor hinges. but to each his own... let the flamming begin

The only thing appealing about the c5 to me is the drive train, the body style does nothing for me.

I would still prefer all the way back to 84 over the C5.
1990 to 1996 :hump:

As for 'kits' , I have never figured out why I would want one.

I wouldn't hold it against someone that does though...

hi, I have a c4 & c5, the c4 is lower on insurance, but U fall in & climb out of it, not as bad in the c5, c4 ac too mild compared to c5, REALLY don't U feel the need for another 100hp. in a c5...cost for both $ 25k....I would sell the c4 first....:backstabber:

how is it different than this?

http://px6.streetfire.net/0001/82/81/1392818_600.jpg

I know I know, but 2 different cars.

And again, doing the conversion concedes the point C5 is a more desirable car. I don't buy that.

C4's look way better than C5's in my honest opinion. Kits are for posers. Makes them look like cheap ricers. Don't mean to hate, but I hate aftermarket body parts.

if you need a body change...maybe try building a Resto-mod...c4 is a great platform for one...thats what I've seen on the car auctions... Is there a body kit of a C2 67' to put on a c5 chassi ??? mmmmm old & new school rightous:woowoo:

If you are going to change a C4 do something cool with it like this; http://todd-vette.tripod.com/tailgunnertrailers/index.album/project-rayzr?i=5
Making another C5 is a waste of time and money since you can sell the C4 and buy a C5 for less than the change over...

NO NO NO!!!!!
Be proud to have your C4. It's a beautiful car. If you want a C5, sell your car and buy a C5. Do not destroy it with some stupid POS kit. That goes for C3, C2, C1, C6, or C10 for that matter. Your car is what it is don't try and make it something it is not.
