: How many miles you have on C5
bigboy 10-04-2007, 05:50 AM Currently own 82 Vette that i have had for years. Looking to buy newer c5, because of budget the car will have some mileage on it. Wanted to see what sort of mileage others had and what sort of problems you have had. appreciate the tips - Vic
Lethal Tendencies 10-04-2007, 07:36 AM I have a '00 coupe with 54,000 on it.No issues yet.the key is maintenance.Oil changes,coolant changes, belts,93 octane fuel,battery maintenance.
Sharfire55 10-04-2007, 09:16 AM I have a 2004 Coupe and I have 36,294 miles. I've had the front end aligned once and new tires, So far I have only hand a front brake job done (last week). I had SLP exhaust installed, which I really like. I have had no big problems mechanically. The car seems to be holding up really well. I drove a Jaguar for a couple years and I was so sick of putting money in it CONSTANTLY that I traded it for the Vette along with a heap of money but I was spending $3,000 per year on items such as brakes, tires, front end alignment and was told that was the nature of the car. Stuff was always coming lose and falling off the Jag and the dealer never could get it to run right, it always had something wrong with it. Anyway I love my Vette and will try to keep driving one as long as I can.
My 1998 C5 corvette has 63,237 miles on it! I just had a oil pressure gauge issue and my car has a few minor problems, such an amazing car, you will be happy.
bigboy 10-07-2007, 02:30 PM I have seen some pretty good prices on C5's in my area, couple of them had some higher milage on them. I assume parts are easy to find?
electricman2170 10-07-2007, 05:00 PM I have a '00 vette with 94,000 on it and it runs great the only thing I have had to do is fix the drivers seat controls and put a shift cable on the trans. The motor and trans are very tight. Like others have said it is a maintenance thing and I always use the recommended synthetic lubricants......

thats what I have been told and can see, actually I really like the lines of the C5 better than the C6's. So it works out!
maxvette 10-19-2007, 12:38 PM 89k miles had car for 2 years only put 2k on it, had to replace cooling fan motors, other than that car is very tight, just replaced interior with custom color upgrade, and just had car repainted (rock chips in front) and a custom flame paint scheme.

espz06 10-22-2007, 07:54 AM I'm the high mileage Z06 guy. I bought it with 63k, and I'm up to 66k. It wasn't stock, has been ridden hard her whole life I believe, and I'm no different (I've owned it for less than three months, so I'm doing over a thousand miles a month, including drag racing and autocross/time trials).
I bought it for a daily driver, even with the healthy cam, and am enjoying every minute of it. Nothing out of the ordinary in mantinence, but the fourth gear syncro's are dead (and I found that out the hard way, drag racing at the track). So other than the bucks I'll have to drop for fixing that (and I'll add a much better clutch/flywheel and probably a short shifter), I feel VERY confident in buying a high mileage C5!
