You know, electrical problems seem to be the biggest problems with these cars. I am in the clouds with these problems, but someone here will know!

I stated this to a fella awhile back that I had a similar problem and I checked all grounds and cleaned them and the problem went away.

Both of these problems are common on all C5's. Let's start with your turn signal issue first.

The way that the turn signal circuit is designed has it routed it through the hazard switch. What has happened with your turn signals is that the contacts on the hazard switch have become dirty and are making intermittent contact. You can verify this for yourself by doing the following. The next time the turn signals quit working, punch the hazard button rapidly a bunch of times. I'll bet pink slips that the turn signals start working again.

Now, how do I fix it you ask? You have 2 choices. You can replace the hazard switch, which is somewhat of a pain but there are instructions on how to do so here (http://myweb.cableone.net/kd5fx/HSwitch/HSwitch.htm). The other solution is to buy the hazard switch bypass cable from Richard at Corvette Enhancements (http://www.corvette-enhancements.com/contact.php). This is a much easier install and will keep this problem from ever coming back again (which is what will happen if you replace the hazard switch). The hazard switch is about $26 and the cable is around $50. I did the switch before I was smart enough to find these forums and didn't know better. I have since done the bypass cable.

Now for the lock issue. Get you reading glasses on because you have some reading to do. This problem has been well documented and although I haven't had the problem, I have bought the parts for when the problem happens (which is only a matter of time). I think these issues tend to show up with cars that are left out in the elements most of the time. I keep mine garaged so I haven't seen most of the issues that other guys have concerning electrical stuff. There are two problems that cause this issue. One being the relays in the doors and the second being the harness that goes from the dash to the door through an accordion tube. A wire has been know to become bare just enough to short to the frame in that accordion tube. It is not easy to find and you have to know what you're looking for so that is why you'll be doing a lot of reading. Here's the link (http://forums.corvetteforum.com/showthread.php?t=1606865) that explains how to resolve your issue. No need for me to duplicate it since it has already been done with a ton of feedback. It's a page turner!

NOT!

P.S. Make sure that you post what you did and your results back in this thread so that you can help the next poor slob who is going through your pains.

FYI it really helps to excercise those relays too, everytime you get in lower and raise each window and fiddle with the locks...
