I blew my motor in my 2000 C5 and wanted to see if the Z28 camaro (1998) engine mount up? I've been told it would?

It should transfer over with all your sensors from the original engine.
Basically its the same block set-up.

How did you blow the motor?

Its one of those really egg headed moves, I'll just say it has to do with little to no oil and high miles. Its my fault :(

So will this motor work or you know where I can get a decent used motor?

the 1998 Camaro engine will bolt right in to your 2000 Corvette, the only real difference you will see is the perimeter bolt style valve covers, and coil brackets on the 1998 engine. Your 2000 engine will have center bolt style. Otyher than that5, everything is a direct replacement. As suggested,I would use the sensors from the Corvette, so you know that everything is seeing the proper signal.
Feel free to give me a call if you need any help,
Ed

Yes it will bolt right to your current bellhousing. You will want to transfer the oil pan, flywheel, harmonic balancer etc but the core block assy will do the trick. Looks like you have a motor but let me know if you need anything .. I have a low mile (30K) shortblock on the stand from a 2004 GTO and another out of a 1999 Corvette. I have used heads etc all with under 30k miles. If you are ever going to upgrade now is the time. Hmmm 383 stroker in your current block (if the block isn't damaged);)

That's good to know, the supercharged 5.3 in my daily driver silverado is starting to talk to me...I'll need a shortblock soon!

Would like to get a bigger motor, just low on funds these days so have to take the less expensive route.
