Do any of you know of a common problem w/ the electronic overdrive on my 84 4+3 manual trans. ? it only will sometimes turn on with the switch and when it does it will not stay on long. i have checked all of the connections at the trans and am thinking it could be a relay or maybe the switch on the console. the car only has 58k on the clock so i doubt it is mechanical. anybody experience this or have something for me to try?

Its possible its the switch itself.Maybe try a continuity test on it.I am not a big fan of the 4+3.I read that its reccomended to replace the filter and fluid in the OD unit every 10,000 miles.I think that is crazy if that is the case to keep the trans running smoothly.Sorry for ranting.Anyway maybe try the switch,I haven't heard many people having any issues with the od switch but its possible.

The relay is located on the firewall by the wiper motor.Check the connections for burned or worn wires.
