My LT-1 has developed an intermittent gas leak with the engine running:mad: . 174K miles, I had her rebuilt 12K ago. If I drive it every day there are no problems. But if it sits for 3-4 days or more without being driven, I have quite a stream of gas running off the flywheel cover, towards the right side.

My mechanic has checked it and can find nothing wrong. The premium fuel leaves no drip residue from whatever the source is, so there isn't even a trail to follow. The day following a leaky day, everything is fine again. Anyone else have problem like this? Sure would appreciate any help!

Did you check the fuel line near fire wall? If its coming down the flywheel cover I would be looking north of that at all the hoses and connections?

Could be a fuel injector leak.Where the injectors rplaced when the motor was rebuilt? Gas leaks are very dangerous,I would definitely have this diagnosed right away.

I bet its the o-rings. As soon as you turn the car off the pressure in the fuel system leaks by the injector seals (o-rings). A friend with a 91 had the o-rings replaced for a little over 100 dollars. It was driving him up the wall for the longest time, knowone could find the leak. Good luck

Problem solved guys, thanks for the help. We brought it to new mechanic and he found the problem (it was at the injectors) and fixed, we got a nice bill, but the plus side is the garage doesn't smell like gas any more!
