hey guys, my 84 still runs hot! i put a 170 thermostat ,i have replaced the radiator the fan relay and the fan switch. it used to turn the fan on at 227' f before the new parts and now the fan doesn't come on till 233'f so it is not any better. i did notice that the old switch had 108' c stamped in it. that is about 235'f. the new switch had no marks but is obviously higher. could the gauge be wrong? i cant believe these cars ran this hot off the showroom floor! it was suggested to me to put a switch in the fan circuit to turn the fan on manually when it gets hot but that is not going to be something my wife is going to pay attention to. i think i should be able to make it work as it should, all factory! i have heard of an adjustable switch. does anyone know of a system that might work for my car? also is there a fast idle adjustment on the crossfire engine? my car idles at 1600 rpm when cold. too high in my opinion. i have owned many cool cars and for a all original car w/ 58k in excellent cond. i have never experienced so many problems. this is my first vette so i have to ask, are these cars really that problematic? its been like having a fast and cool looking renault!

o.k. so i was a little upset earlier when i compared the gremlins on my vette to a renault. sorry ! well i did have to use a non-gm part painless wirings fan switch p/n 30111. turns the fan on at 185 and off at 170. i may be imagining it but it feels more powerful. i love my car! always makes me feel better when things are working as they should.

We all get that way when things go south. So are you good? Is it over heating still?

The car runs well. Between 175 and 190 depending on whether or not the fan is on. i do have a new issue and i will post a new thread about it but the overdrive in my 4+3 manual trans is turning on and off. with the switch on? thanks

good to hear that your temps are running cooler now, I'm trying to think on those switches, it should be that hard to swap out the switch? It sounds like your switch is bad, replace it and you should be golden.
