what the hell is a cross fire got a 88 exsplane please!!
Hello
Your 88 Corvette Has TPI (Tunned Port Injection) not CrossFireInjection. CrossFireInjection is the fuel injection system used on 1982/84 Corvettes, It has two throttle body's siting on a intake that looks like the old Z28 cross ram intake manifold. It has very small intake runners for good low end power an not so good for high RPM's, This fuel system works great when working correctly,In it's time it was state of the art. But like all 25 year old fuel system if it has not been maintained properly there will be problems. Sitting with fuel in the system for years at a time will cause problems and the ECM's where built using 70's technology, How many of us are still using stereos from the 70's? No one because they worked like crap, The ECM'S for the CrossFire were Designed in the late 70's before high tech electronics of today and there will some problems that just cant be fixed, Like gas fouling the number 8 spark plug from not leting the motor get to temp before shuting it off. I hope ever one that owns one of these cars under stands this. With a little patients you can make them run fine, But never like a new Corvette.
